Circular Economy in purchasing.

It is becoming increasingly difficult for companies to master the complex requirements of the global supply chain and achieve their sustainability goals. We are your professional partner for implementation. We transform your company in five steps towards a sustainable future.

Sustainable
transformation
in your company.

As customers increasingly prefer sustainable solutions and are looking for circular materials, a transformation of business models is essential for companies. They must achieve their own climate targets, as well as those of their customers. The fragmented global supply chain poses a complex challenge. Companies must meet the requirements of the CSRD and the EU Taxonomy, which demand comprehensive data on product sustainability.

The rising costs and limited availability of raw materials highlight the importance of efficient resource use and an increased commitment to the circular economy. Collaboration across the entire value chain is fundamental to the success of a circular economy, but it is also challenging.

Analysis of the supply chain and derivation of hotspots & feasibility. Status quo analysis.

In a kick-off workshop, we first define the project framework and analyse the current status within the organization. We look at the sustainability strategy, purchasing data structure and carry out a materiality analysis. We then define impact categories and sustainability indicators. We also identify product hot spots and their interdependencies with the impact categories. We define a starting point (baseline) and targets to make progress measurable.

Evaluate measures for product groups.
Identifying the maturity level and developing scenarios.

As part of our service offering, we assess the maturity level of the product and analyse its key areas, taking into account the 10-R strategies. We examine specifications, material flows and operational activities, such as the purchasing process and role allocation. We also analyse the flow of information to suppliers and their profiles. This analysis enables us to identify potential challenges and determine the maturity level of your circular economy. Furthermore, we develop scenarios by conducting a cross-functional analysis of purchasing needs in relation to the defined impact categories. Based on the R strategies, we create scenarios showing possible measures and providing a high-level assessment of their feasibility and scalability. We also identify opportunities to achieve target outcomes.

A key part of this process involves implementing innovation workshops with representatives from development, purchasing, sales, and product management. These workshops identify key measures for resource conservation, decarbonisation and other relevant aspects.

Definition of fields of action.
Validation of feasibility.

To validate the feasibility of the planned measures, we carry out internal and external validation. For internal validation, we assess the feasibility of internal processes such as purchasing and production. For external validation, we examine the supplier network. We assess the measures' feasibility based on the availability of resources and the suppliers' commitment, for example.

Anchoring in supplier management.
Governance.

In the area of governance, we first develop an internal roadmap to guide the implementation of measures. A key component of this roadmap is the establishment of KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), which are used to measure and monitor the achievement of objectives. To ensure smooth collaboration and clear responsibilities, we define RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) roles between the relevant departments.

This clarifies who is responsible for which tasks and decisions, and who should be involved as a contact person. We also modify processes where necessary to ensure the successful implementation of the measures. This includes making adjustments to existing processes and creating an incentive structure to motivate the implementation of the measures. Another important aspect is quantifying the expected impact on the defined impact categories. Using suitable tools, we analyse the expected effect of the measures on sustainability performance.
