Natural and technical approaches

CO2 can be actively removed from the atmosphere either naturally — through reforestation and soil restoration — or technologically, using systems that capture or filter emissions directly at the source. Examples of this include the "Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage" (DACCS) technology, which filters CO2 from the ambient air and safely stores it, as well as the use of biochar, which binds carbon in the soil over the long-term and thus helps to reduce atmospheric CO2.
