Sustainable procurement. Sustainability along the supply chain.

Procurement plays a key role in anchoring sustainability in companies and their supply chains. As a multiplier, it can have a lasting impact on the value creation of companies and their partners and thus make a significant contribution to the environment and society.

Sustainability in the long term.

Sustainable procurement not only includes the purchase of sustainable products and services, but also the systematic anchoring of sustainability aspects in the operational processes of procurement, e.g. in supplier and product group management. The development of effective supplier relationships and collaboration and co-innovation with partners is playing an increasingly important role here.

Thanks to our many years of expertise in sustainability and climate management, we know the key starting points for identifying and strategically expanding sustainability potential together with you and your suppliers and business partners. Our experts understand how sustainability can be anchored in your business processes and support you in implementing this in your supply chains as well.

Sustainable Procurement strategy.

A sustainable procurement strategy sets the guidelines for responsible purchasing and operationalizes the company-wide sustainability strategy for the procurement function. Ifa materiality analysis has already been carried out in your company, this forms the basis for further development. We also take into account the demand characteristics of your company and the associated sustainability potential, which includes both opportunities and risks.

We work with you to develop a mission statement for sustainable procurement that is tailored to your company. In doing so, we derive key fields of action, core topics and strategic objectives and concretize these by defining key figures, measures and a roadmap for implementation. On this basis, procurement can make a significant contribution to achieving your company's sustainability goals.

Risk analysis along Value chain

The increasing international integration of the economy and the complexity of global procurement and sales markets can lead to inadequate enforcement of internationally recognized human rights and environmental protection. This is where the Supply Chain Duty of Care Act (LkSG) in Germany and the European Supply Chain Directive (CSDDD) adopted by the EU Parliament in June 2023 come in. These require companies to increase transparency in their value chains, identify social and environmental risks and manage them proactively.

We support you in implementing the requirements arising from the LkSG and, in future, the CSDDD for your company. Together, we analyze social and ecological risks in your value chains and systematically anchor preventive measures in your operational processes. The aim is not only to comply with your due diligence obligations, but also to create sustainable value for the company and its suppliers.

Find out more about the LkSG here .

Sustainable supplier management.

In order to make value chains sustainable, close cooperation with suppliers is essential. For example, companies' greenhouse gas balances show that a significant proportion of emissions are usually generated in the upstream and downstream supply chain (Scope 3). Potential for improvement can therefore only be realized in concerted action with your suppliers. Systematically anchoring sustainability in supplier management processes plays a key role in this.

We integrate the sustainability aspects along the supplier management process. This includes the selection, evaluation and development of suppliers, supplier risk management (also in the context of the LkSG), supplier audits and supplier training. In addition, we support you in the selection of suitable system solutions (SSCM platforms) that can be used independently or integrated into your SRM or ERP system. This systematic and system-supported embedding of sustainability in your supplier management processes allows potential to be identified in a structured manner and realized together with suppliers.

Sustainable agriculture through deforestation-free supply chains - Implement the EUDR successfully with us.

Deforestation-free supply chains are a fundamental building block for sustainable agriculture and offer numerous environmental and social benefits. The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) supports this by requiring companies to ensure that their products imported into the EU, made available on the EU market and exported from the EU do not contribute to global deforestation. Transparency and traceability play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with these regulations.

We see the EUDR not only as a compliance challenge, but also as an opportunity for your organization to establish sustainable and legally compliant supply chains. Our expertise in strategic risk management helps you to develop long-term solutions that go beyond meeting legal requirements.

The duty of care comprises several important steps:

  • Gathering detailed information about the origin of raw materials and their supply chain
  • Assessment of possible risks
  • Introduction of risk mitigation measures
  • Ensuring traceability
  • Regular reporting for transparency

By December 30, 2025, companies have the task of analyzing their supply chains, carefully assessing risks and establishing effective traceability systems. We provide you with comprehensive support: we help you to identify relevant areas, strategically plan implementation measures and select and implement suitable software solutions.

Sustainable product group management.

Cost, innovation, quality and sustainability potential can be realized through strategic product group management. This allows strategic product groups to be analyzed in terms of ecological, social and ethical opportunities and risks and optimization potential to be identified.

We support your purchasing department in identifying critical product groups with regard to key sustainability issues such as climate protection, circular economy and human rights. These can be derived on the basis of the sustainability strategy or sustainable procurement strategy, risk and hotspot analyses as well as greenhouse gas balances or life cycle analyses.

Together with your buyers and product group managers, we identify criteria and starting points for systematically anchoring sustainability aspects in the product group strategies. This gives sustainability strategic importance in the selection and development of suppliers, in the design of products and services (e.g. via specifications) and in award decisions (e.g. via tenders).
